Brands that are nervous about going big and bold with their packaging may be more inclined to take the plunge after finding out bright, eye-catching colours and designs will be huge in 2023.

When it comes to designing the packaging of your product, you want something that will stand out on a shelf without being too jarring to look at. However, the bigger, bolder, brighter the better this year, as lots of brands are livening up their presentation to attract customers.

Packaging World recommended having a play with colours in 2023, as lots of brands will be competing for the spotlight this year. “Think splashes of bold, highly saturated colours that are overflowing with confidence,” it stated. Bright colours can be used to create an “enticing backdrop” for brands that typically have black or white logos, with the article adding: “If being loud and proud is what matters most, this approach is well worth exploring.”

Textures will be just as important as colours in 2023, with minimalist brands using different design techniques, such as foil printing, embossing, and de-bossing, to make their packaging more attractive. It also appeals to customers’ desire to touch the products, which means they are more likely to pick them off the shelf.

Justin Hamra from Vista also encouraged brands to adopt brighter colours in 2023, saying: “With our visual attention more valuable than ever, being bold, bright and ecstatic is taking over.”
